To defend and improve the environment for present and future generations as an imperative goal of

all humankind the United Nations General Assembly adopted a historic resolution on July 28,

2022,declaring access to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment as a universal human right.

The United Nations General Assembly ‘s historic recognition will serve as a catalyst for institutions,

States, and business to better respect, protect, and truly guarantee this human right.

The UN Secretary- General, Antonio Guterres welcomed the decision and urged the Member States

and pollution. It will help reduce environmental injustices and empower people,

especially those that are in vulnerable situations, including children, youth, women, and Indigenous
