A Universal Human Right to a Healthy Environment: UN General Assembly
T o defend and improve the environment for present and future generations as an imperative goal of all humankind the United Nations General Assembly adopted a historic resolution on July 28, 2022, declaring access to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment as a universal human right. The United Nations General Assembly ‘s historic recognition will serve as a catalyst for institutions, States, and business to better respect, protect, and truly guarantee this human right. The UN Secretary- General, Antonio Guterres welcomed the decision and urged the Member States can come together in the fight against the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.
